Competition for the investments between the regions comes to the fore in an increasingly competitive climate in the global economy accompanied by financial instability. In certain regions the situation is aggravated by the internal problems leading to the regional disproportions.

Today the development vector of Russia has the easterly direction. In this regard in Siberian and Far East regions tourist resources are actively searched and created. In the first half of the 2010th tourist reference points were turned to the Caucasus, and at the end of 2014 it was decided to suspend a half of alpine skiing projects of "Kurorty Severnogo Kavkaza" JSC.

The regional geographic information system is spatial data infrastructure the purposes of which are: systematization, integration and information access; effective information exchange between data holders and consumers; departmental information barriers minimization and elimination; exception of spatial data collecting duplication and their effective use.

Recycling is a very pressing issue for Russia. This issue is very important for waste producing spheres such as mining, metallurgy, and also for consuming spheres: tires production, plants protection means, household appliances, food industry, retail trade.

The feature of the territory of Russia development is a considerable nonuniformity. Moscow, St. Petersburg and other million-strong cities generate agglomerations attracting new inhabitants with higher standard of living. However, living in the big city has a number of disadvantages, besides the obvious advantages.
